The program focuses on middle school kids, and encourages kids and parents to talk about the risks of underage drinking and benefits of living a healthy lifestyle.

The Culinary Kid, is a series that began to air on Cox in the Tulsa market in January 2011.Remmi Smith is the host of the show and is one of the positive role models, or superstars, on the Ask, Listen, Learn team. She sets a good example of how to live a healthy lifestyle through her cooking and saying no to underage drinking. Not only a superstar, was also named one of The Century Council’s 20 People to Watch for her dedication to creating lasting, positive change among our nation’s youth.

Remmi has tirelessly demonstrated her passion for bringing a message of health through the kitchen. Earlier today, Sodexo Education-Schools recognized her as the first ever National Student Ambassador to Health and Nutrition. In this new role, Remmi will work closely with Sodexo on a national outreach effort to help students get excited about nutrition and health. She will work with Sodexo chefs for over 500 school districts throughout the country to give a student’s perspective on health and nutrition. She will reach 3 million student peers and will star in a mini-series shown in classrooms across the nation teaching kids about nutrition. In addition to events, Sodexo will sponsor posters of Remmi to place in schools to excite kids about healthy eating.

“At a considerably young age, Remmi has dedicated her time to educate and excite other kids about living their best life through healthy eating. Remmi will undoubtedly set a positive example through her work with Sodexo,” said Ralph Blackman, President and CEO of The Century Council.

When you go to the mall, you often can see people speed walking around the mall. So, check your mall to see if they offer a mall-walking program or early morning hours for walkers. If not, grab a friend, or more, and walk around the mall together. Try to do one quick lap for some harder exercise, and then one moderate lap for a little bit of window shopping — then repeat, one fast lap/one relaxed, on the upper level. Make it fun! Plus, you get to window shop at the same time, so you can go back and get what you want later!
