Nancy Smith
I am Nancy Smith and I am the founder and President of Cook Time with RemmiTM and the show, The Culinary Kid.
In 2008, I became very interested in the childhood obesity epidemic and did a lot of research on the subject. In my research, I found a wealth of information available for parents and children. What I felt was lacking was the link between cooking skills and improved nutrition. There were not any cooking programs that focused on teaching children how to cook to improve their nutrition. My oldest son, Abe, made the suggestion that I should do a kids cooking show. Remmi, who is now the star of the show, was very excited about the possibility of the show and she wanted to be part of it.
For the past year, I have been the creative writer, director and producer of the show-the best career I have ever had. Prior, I was part of corporate America and I spent 20 years in the telecommunications industry at the executive level in Sales, Marketing, Finance and Operations. Cooking has always been a passion of mine. Now, with the show, I find it also very challenging.
Beyond cooking, I love to read. I always carry a book with me no matter where I go. Our family vacations are usually spent sailing in the British Virgin Islands. My husband, Sam, is a certified captain. And guess what we love to do on our sailing vacations….we love to cook on the boat! It is great fun to take the foods that are available in the local economy and create new dishes. As a family we snow ski in the winter. We love to play, watch, and attend anything having to do with basketball.
I have been married to Sam-it seems forever-all good! We have seven children. Abe, 32, is Vice President of Operations in our family business. Levi is 25, played basketball at the college level and is a recent graduate from Emmanuel College in Boston. Nicollette is a senior at Kansas University, and is on a basketball scholarship there. Maddeson, 16, Dasher, 14, Remmington (Remmi), 11, and Elizah, 10, are our youngest children and they have all been adopted from China. I feel very blessed to have the family that I have and I am really excited about the future of Cook Time with RemmiTM and for the future of our new show, The Culinary Kid. I hope you enjoy the website and the show.
